Teacher and Staff Training Expectations
All teaching staff will be expected to complete a minimum of 1.5 to 2 hours of online Skyward training prior to the start of school in the Fall of 2024. Unfortunately, Skyward is no longer doing in person training and all training is being done via videos and simulations through the Skyward Knowledge Hub. Information on setting up your Skyward Knowledge Hub account was emailed to you on April 2. If you did not set up this account right away, there is a chance the link to set up the account will expire. If this is the case, you will need to reach out to Jean Westover to have her resend you an updated link.
Because of the variety of training modules and training that is unique to so many users, WRPS will NOT be holding any large in person District level training sessions on Skyward. However, the Technology Department plans to hold some small Q & A sessions for teachers and staff in the buildings during the inservice days in August as well as providing training sessions at the Summer Institute in August.
Teacher Training Sessions
All classroom teachers, as well as a few other positions, have been assigned a minimum of 3 training sessions in Skyward. Keep in mind the number of training sessions you have is dependent on your role within the District, so some of you may have different training sessions than the classroom teachers. The three sessions for classroom teachers are as follows and should be completed in this order
- S2Q1 - General Navigation (Student Record Systems) - You should watch and complete this entire set of training videos.
- S2Q1 - Orientations and Expectations (Student Records Systems) - You should only watch the sections on the PDC and Training Database.
- S2Q5 - Teacher Access Gradebooks - Complete this entire session. This session is the bulk of your training and the most important.
If at any point as you are completing your training, you feel that you are missing something in Qmlativ that you currently have access to in Skyward SMS 2.0, please let Jean Westover know and she will assign additional training and access as needed.
**NOTE: Lincoln High School staff will be completing alternate training sessions based on the use of the Canvas gradebook. Refer to the Building Admin at Lincoln about training.
Timeline for Training Completion
While you currently have access to this training, some of you will want to complete this training as soon as possible and some of you may choose to wait until closer to August. Your building Administration may have options for you as well yet this year to complete training during the school day. Either way is fine, but understand that effective August 1, 2024, the current Skyward system will no longer be accessible and you will be working in Skyward Qmlativ.
It is also extremely important to note that you will be completing all of your training in the Skyward Qmlativ Training Database. Most of the things you set up in the training database such as live tiles, shortcuts, and custom widgets as part of your training will not transfer to the live database on August 1st. While it is important to learn these things, you will need to set them up again in the live database in August 2024.
