The SPRING MUSICAL - LHS Theatre Dept
MY FAIR LADY
"When Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady opened on Broadway, it collected six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, while the film version took home eight Oscars, including Best Picture. Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”
Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish. " ~MTI

FAQ on Musical Auditions
- Sign up one of the days. You do NOT have to attend both days. If these nights do not meet your schedule please let us know ASAP and let's figure out when you can audition! We want you to audition!
- Audition forms are found in our Canvas class for LHS Theatre Dept. Please ask to be included in this class.
- Each night is divided into groups. Please pick which time works best for you while filling in the earliest available spot.
- Each group has 8 students. After each student does their sing/act audition, all 8 students in that group will be taught the dance and then will give the final audition in the 15 minutes given to the dance section. The sing/act audition is closed. Once your group has completed the dance portion together, you are free to leave.
- There will be scenes to read from, and they will be posted in Canvas. You will be using the whole script/score (see Canvas) to read from. Same goes for music.
- We are looking for facial expression and listening for voice variation, inflection and pitch.
- Wear comfortable clothes to move around in for your dance portion. No tennis shoes, boots or flip-flops please. Flats, character shoes, jazz shoes or anything with a softer sole and is strapped on your foot is perfect. And stretch before the dance section! As always, remember to "smile and have style!"
Loving the “old school” fashion, we will post a hard copy of the cast on the bulletin board by the LHS Theatre office. It will later be posted online in Canvas.
