Technical Colleges
The technical colleges provide shorter educational programs from six weeks up to two years in topics that are more "technical" in nature. Students can earn a variety of degrees including associate degrees, one- to two-year technical diplomas, short-term diplomas, etc. Technical college credits may not transfer to the four-year college.

Two-Year UW Colleges
Two-year campuses provide the first two years of a four-year degree. Students who attend two-year colleges receive the benefits of a small campus, lower costs and less strict admission requirements. The two-year UW Colleges have a transfer agreement program with the UW four-year campuses.

Four-Year UW Universities
Four-Year universities provide students with the opportunity to receive a "liberal arts" education. These campuses expect students to be well-rounded, so they require students to take classes in the four subject areas of math, science, social studies and English. Students have the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree in many subject areas.
