Greetings from Red Raider Country,
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, I would like to welcome you to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School. As you explore our website you will see the many great things that occur daily at Lincoln. As you come into the doors, you will see firsthand the excellent educational experiences occurring daily with our 1,390 students. We are extremely excited for the 2023-24 school year! I feel truly blessed to work with so many fine students.
Personally, I am blessed with two great children-Isabelle who is a Freshman at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio majoring in Biological Sciences for Business and Jonah who is a Junior at LHS involved in football, track, and DECA. They are truly my inspiration and joy in life!
Professionally, I graduated from Antigo High School (Home of the Red Robins) in 1990. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (The Fighting Phoenix) in 1995 with a double major in History and Political Science and a minor in secondary education. I earned my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Marian University in 2003.
I started teaching at Reedsburg Area High School (Go Beavers) in January 1996 through May 2003. I taught courses in American History, world cultures, world conflicts and military strategies, American government, Advanced Placement US History, world history, and economics. In July 2003 I moved into administration at Reedsburg Area High School as the Associate Principal.
While at Reedsburg I served as an advisor for 12 years of a state award-winning Student Council through the Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC). I coached freshman boys' basketball for five years. I also initiated the mock trial program while at RAHS. Lastly, I traveled abroad with students every other year beginning in 1997. I have traveled extensively all over Europe including the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
From 2008-2012 I served as the Principal of Mauston High School (Go Golden Eagles). In my time at Mauston we worked on developing a strategic plan for the school district committed to developing the whole student while maintaining our “Commitment To Excellence.” This was exemplified by our work on developing Professional Learning Communities for staff and the emphasis on Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships with our student body.
In August 2012, I was awarded the opportunity to become a Red Raider and serve as Principal of Lincoln High School. Over the past seven years, I have been extremely impressed with our faculty who are willing to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students. Our students have demonstrated excellence in and out of the classroom as exemplified by their community involvement, college admissions, national award winners, and a number of students recognized by outside agencies.
We are striving for excellence at Lincoln and the best student experience possible. Currently, we are in our ninth year of the trimester schedule. This schedule allows our students to focus on fewer classes at a time and to go "deeper" into the content. We strongly believe this schedule assists us in meeting the needs of our students better preparing them for post-secondary education, the workforce, and/or military service. We also are refining our Response to Intervention (RtI) process, implementing grading practices that reflect learning, and stressing the importance of character education (#rapidspride).
In the past four years, we have completed approximately 32 million dollars worth of additions and renovations to our physical campus. We have
- Nine new science laboratories and classrooms.
- New Library and Learning Commons.
- Additional food service areas and a student-run coffee shop.
- Updated and turfed our football/soccer South Wood County Stadium.
- Constructed a baseball/softball quadplex with two turf baseball and two turf softball fields which also can be lined for soccer.
- Added auxiliary gym, which can be used for gymnastics and wrestling programs. It is also used by track and baseball/softball.
- Expanded the girls’ locker room, the same size as when it was built in 1979.
- Added a College and Career Center area, which will be a help students prepare for their future education/careers.
- Renovated the kitchen serving area. In addition, we added a cafe and concession area.
- Replaced an outdated pool with an eight-lane natatorium with two diving boards.
- Added a community locker room for our strong community swim program.
- Installed solar panels on the auxiliary addition.
- We also have completed many energy efficiency projects including a new roof and HVAC system.
We have been recognized as a Top High School by US News and World Report for the ninth year in a row. This recognition places LHS as a top 30% high school in the United States and in the top 15% in Wisconsin! We also have been recognized by the Wisconsin RTI Center for our work improving student academic performance for the second year in a row.
The above areas are showcased in our Mission Statement: To develop the skills and character to achieve success!
I encourage you to offer your suggestions for our operation. Call, email, or stop and visit. I also encourage you to explore our website and learn more about the educational program at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
