Hello Howe School!
I am Steve Thayer, the newly appointed Principal at Howe Elementary home of the Bulldogs! As I begin this new chapter in my professional career, I am humbled to step into this important role and look forward to growing right alongside our Howe students this year. After graduating from Jimtown High School in Elkhart IN, I came to the great State of Wisconsin to pursue my undergraduate degree in Mathematics Education from Maranatha Baptist University. I spent several years teaching the greatest subject ever, when I went on to received my Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and began my journey as an Administrator. This journey brought me to the Wisconsin Rapids area. For the last 5 years I was able to serve as an Associate Principal at Lincoln High School which brings us now to Howe! It is such a joy to serve this amazing community of which I am blessed to live in and be a part of! My wife Emily and I have been married for over 10 years, and we love raising our four kids together (Landon, Parker, Kendra, and Hudson). You will often find us around town riding bikes, enjoying the McMillan Library, cheering on the sidelines of one of the kids sporting events, or getting treats at the Farmer's Market. We love this community and could not be more excited to continue to serve the families at Howe!
Howe is special because of the people here! Parents, students, staff, and community partners all play a role in, "Creating a community of engaged learners, focused on academic and social growth, preparing them for our changing world." I believe Howe kids are the best kids! I look forward to helping maintain a safe and welcoming school where everyone can grow towards their best self! Please reach out and let me know how I can support your family. You can email me or call me here in the office at 715-424-6772.
Best Wishes
