Student Engagement Facilitator Email Phone: (715) 424-6750 Please allow me to introduce myself.
This is my 22nd school year at Lincoln High School, so I definitely have Raider PRIDE! I grew up in a family of teachers, so I value the opportunities education provides to prepare students for whatever paths they choose to pursue after graduation.
After I graduated from Merrill High School, I attended UW-Stevens Point, at which I earned my Bachelor’s degree with a major in English/Secondary Education and a minor in writing. I began teaching at Wausau West and moved to Wisconsin Rapids after I married my husband, who was already employed by a local paper mill. All three of our children attend or have attended schools in this district (our oldest is a 2018 LHS graduate); as a result, I invest myself not only as a teacher in this district and member of the community but also as a parent.
Since moving to Wisconsin Rapids, I have earned my Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Viterbo University and have completed courses beyond that degree in the areas of reading, technology, and curriculum improvement. I am a lifelong learner who constantly seeks ways to develop myself professionally. I look for ways to extend my students' learning through writing grants--locally through WRPS Advocates and Schools Plus, as well as through online resources such as DonorsChoose.org and AdoptaClassroom.org. Because of my involvement, I was selected as a Kohl Fellowship Award recipient and LHS/WRPS Teacher of the Year for the 2006-2007 school year.
This year I will teach a mix of courses--English 2A, English 2B, and English 4 Composition--for half of my position and spend the other half assisting WRPS staff as an Educator Effectiveness/Instructional Coach at LHS and RCHS), which also allows me many opportunities to network with educators and educational leaders throughout the state and nation--both to learn from them and to share the great things that happen in our district!
I look forward to working with you!
