Lincoln High School Athletic Hall of Fame
The Lincoln High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1985 to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals who have been a significant part of the Lincoln High School athletic program. Each year a screening committee selects individuals for induction, with a ceremony being held at a Lincoln home football game. A permanent recognition plaque of all Hall of Fame athletes are displayed in the athletic hallway of the Lincoln High School field house.

The 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at halftime of the Friday, September 20th, 2024 football game vs Wausau West. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.

- Michele Curry
- Michele Curry, a 1990 graduate, excelled in two sports during her time at LHS. Michele lettered all four years in swimming and lettered three years while being part of the Track & Field team. Michelle served as a leader in her sports. In addition to swim and track, Michele also participated in basketball for one year and was a powerlifter for three years. During the ‘87-’89 swim seasons, Michele received all-conference recognition along with becoming a state qualifier each of those years. After graduation from LHS, Michele continued her successful career at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Michele held multiple records during her four-year career at UW-Milwaukee. After graduating from college, Michele moved to Colorado where she continues to work and live.
- Angela (Higers) Pergande
- Angela Hilgers, a 2000 graduate, excelled as a two-sport athlete during her time at Lincoln High School. Angela lettered in Gymnastics for four years and Track & Field for three years. She was a leader in both programs. Angela was awarded All-Conference recognition in both Gymnastics and Track & Field. Along with Conference and sectional championships in multiple events, Angela competed in the state tournament in Gymnastics all four years and at Track & Field state her senior year. Angela received All-State recognition in Gymnastics as a Sophomore, Junior, and Senior. She continued her Track & Field career at the University of Illinois and eventually after transferring to UW-La Crosse, for pole vault. Angela received numerous Big Ten, WIAC, and NCAA recognition. In recent years, Angela has continued to give back to athletes by coaching and working at the state gymnastics event at LHS.
- Scott Roeder
- Scott Roeder, a 1983 graduate, excelled in two sports during his time at LHS. Scott lettered three years in football and three years in basketball. Scott was a strong leader and had many high school accolades. Scott received all-conference recognition in football and basketball. In addition to all conference recognition in basketball, Scott was elected to play in the all-star game and was selected to the all-state tournament team in ‘82-’83. After graduation from LHS, Scott attended Luther College before transferring to UW-Platteville to play basketball under head coach Bo Ryan. After college, Scott returned to the Wisconsin Rapids area to work and live.

- Rick Henke
- Rick Henke, was an Athletic Trainer at Lincoln High School for 31 years. Prior to working at Lincoln High School, Rick began his career as an athletic trainer with the Cleveland Indians in their minor league system. During his career with the Indians, Rick passed through Wisconsin Rapids as part of the team;s schedule, not knowing in a few years he would call Wisconsin Rapids his home. Rick joined a local sports medicine center in Wisconsin Rapids in 1989. Since then Rick has worked with our local sports groups and athletes to get them prepared and in the case of injury, helped them in the process of recovery. While at LHS, Rick has been selected and worked at numerous WIAA state events, including State Baseball, State Cross Country, and State Gymnastics. Rick has received the highest accolades while working at LHS and in the community as he was selected to the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame in 2018. Rick continues to stay involved in his community and you are likely to still find him around athletic events in the Wisconsin Rapids area.
- Mark Rohm
- Mark Rohm, a 1982 graduate, excelled as a two-sport athlete during his time at Lincoln High School. Mark lettered in basketball for two year and in track & field for three years. He was a leader in both programs. Mark was awarded All-Conference recognition in both basketball and track & field. Along with All-Conference awards, Mark also received All-State recognition in '80, '81, and'82 in track & field. He continued his track & field career at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse receiving numerous WIAC, NAIA, and NCAA recognition. In recent years, Mark has continued to give back to his community through volunteerism in coaching at the YMCA, college, and other local groups.
- Carol (Sheker) Main
- Carol (Sheker) Main, a 1997 graduate excelled in two sports during her time at LHS. Carol lettered all four years in gymnastics, and lettered two years while being part of the swim & dive team. Carol served as a gymnastics captain in '96 and '97 along with receiving All-Conference and All-State recognition during those two years. She was a conference champion for three consecutive years and finished with a fourth-place finish at state in 1997. After graduating from LHS, Carol continued her career at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, where she was a four-time letter winner and received numerous NCAA and school awards. Carol's collegiate team was the Division III Gymnastics National Champions in 1999 and 2001. Carol continues to work and give back to our community while raising her family.

- Ken Biegel
- Ken Biegel taught and coached in the WRPS system for 23 years and helped establish successful and quality programs on and off the field. He taught physical education and was head football coach and assistant track coach at Lincoln High School. His enthusiasm, creativity, and belief in our community played major roles in three projects that are part of his legacy in Rapids: South Wood County Football/Track Complex, the Lincoln High School Fitness Center, and the Lincoln High School Athletic Hall of Fame. A graduate of Greenfield High School, he lettered 10 times in 4 sports. Ken then graduated from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where he played football and ran track. His first job was in Altoona, to be followed by 5 other locations before coming to Wisconsin Rapids. During his career he coached seven sports: football, track & field, boys & girls basketball, wrestling, tennis, and powerlifting. Ken coached LHS football teams to 5 WVC Titles and his overall record at LHS was 158-73. His raider teams were consistent winners and regular participants in the playoffs. The 1980 team played in the State Championship, and he also has teams in the State Semi and Quarter Finals. Involvement in his profession, community, and faith were all key components in Ken's life and career. He was an active physical education teacher who helped develop new curriculum and purchased modern equipment for class use. He was involved in leadership positions with the Federation of Wisconsin High School Coaches and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. A boy scout leader, he also found time to be involved with the Lions club, Kiwanis club, and was a church leader for 32 years. Ken and his wife, Jeneana, moved to Eagle River upon retirement, and he found the time to be head football coach at Northland Pines High School from 2002-2005. After reviving that program and taking the to the playoffs, he retired a second time and is currently an active realtor. His induction into the LHS Hall of Fame brings him into a group of superlative individuals that includes two of his three sons, T.D. and Rocky.
- Mike Lassa
- Mike was a multi-sport athlete at Lincoln High School in football, wrestling, and track & field. In addition, he participated in powerlifting competitions with the South Wood County YMCA during all four years of high school. As a football athlete, Mike lettered twice. He was All WVC and 2nd Team All State in 1971. In addition, he was selected as team captain and was on the Channel 7 All-Star Team. Four years of letter winning in track & field was highlighted by Mike's personal best throw in the discus of 176 feet 10 inches. His effort ranked him as one of Wisconsin's top discus throwers and this throw still stands as the LHS school record. His teams were conference, regional, and sectional champions in 1971 and 1972. Mike's powerlifting success included 3 straight state championships and a second place his freshman year. After high school he continued powerlifting with the Amateur Athletic Union. The University of North Dakota awarded Mike a football grant-in-aid upon graduation from Lincoln. His freshman year he started all games as a lineman and was selected honorable mention all conference. In his second year of college he played for the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Mike has worked at the Port Edwards Paper Mill; he owns a farm, is an avid outdoorsman, and is a class a fur buyer. He also is a champion sheep shearer, raises sheep, and shares his knowledge of sheep and lambs with local FFA and 4H Chapters.
- John Reimer
- John participated as a varsity athlete at Lincoln High School in football in 1970 and 1971, and in track & field from 1970-1972. He was voted "Best Blocker" on the football team in 1971. He also was a member of track teams that won the WVC Championship, the WIAA Regional Title, and WIAA Sectional Title in 1971 and 1972. In 1972 John was a WIAA Sectional Shot Put Champion. The same year he participated in the WIAA State Track Meet. His personal best toss of 54 feet, 11 3/4 inches, was the school record when he graduated from LHS. The University of Wisconsin - Madison awarded John a football grant-in-aid in 1972. He was a varsity letter winner from 1973-1975 and blocked for badger great, Billy Marek. As a result of his great college career, je was selected in the 12th round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. John is the chief of police of Nekoosa, Wisconsin and has been a supporter of local high school sports. He was an assistant coach for the LHS boys track team from 1985-1991. He also coached track & field at Nekoosa from 1995-1999 and helped the Nekoosa girls capture the WIAA Division II State Track & Field Championship in 1995 and 1998. John joins his father, Jim, a 1988 inductee, into the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame.

- Jenny (Schooley) Reesman
- Jennifer earned 9 letters at Lincoln High School, 3 in volleyball, 3 in basketball, and 3 in softball. In addition, she was a 1992 Gwen Cobleigh award recipient and a national honor society member. As co-captain of the 1991 volleyball team, Jennifer helped her team to a Valley Conference title, regional and sectional championship, and an appearance at the WIAA State Volleyball Tournament. She was the team M.V.P., was elected 1st Team All Valley Conference, and was a member of the Wisconsin all star team. A team co-captain for the 1991-1992 basketball team, Jennifer was selected as honorable mention All Valley Conference. In addition, she was selected as team M.V.P. Softball honors included 1990 2nd Team All Valley Conference, 1991 2nd Team All Valley Conference, and 1992 1st Team All Valley Conference. Jennifer was also the softball M.V.P. and 2nd Team All State in 1992. Jennifer earned a degree in history from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and paralegal certification from Carthage College. She is now a stay-at-home mom and lives in Burlington, Wisconsin.

- Thomas G (Tom) Jackson
- Tom earned five letters at LHS, three in track & field and two in basketball. In addition, he was recognized as a successful student-athlete his senior year when he received the American Legion Scholar-Athlete Award. As a track & field athlete, Tom excelled in three events: high jump, high hurdles, and discus. As a senior he won the WIAA sectional high jump and competed at the 1968 state meet. Tom's achievements in basketball include being All-WVC honorable mention 1967-1968 as a junior when his team was co-champs of the Valley. In 1967-1968 he was team captain and was selected to All-WVC, All-State, and Channel 7 All-Star Team. On his way to these honors he set a season scoring record of 507 points at an average of 25.3 point s per game with a field goal percentage of .592 and grabbed 14 rebounds per game. Athletic success continued for Tom at UW-Eau Claire with Basketball. He was a four-year starter and competed in three NAIA tournaments. In 1971-1972 he was team co-captain and an All-Wisconsin State University Conference selection. This same season, the blugolds were runners-up to Kentucky State at the National NAIA tournament in Kansas City. Tom is also a member of the UW-Eau Claire Hall of Fame. Academic and athletic success have transferred ot Tom's choice of careers. He is the executive director of the Woodson YMCA and oversees both the Wausau and Weston facilities.
- Josh Tuchscherer
- Josh was a multi-year varsity letter winner in cross-country, tennis, and swimming. He also was involved in student government, volunteer efforts and advanced study opportunities. His cross-country and tennis participation provided experiences at conference and sectional competitions; However, his greatest interscholastic achievements were as a swimmer. Beginning as a freshman, Josh was an All-WVC swimmer for four consecutive seasons. He was a multi-year WIAA Sectional Champion and was recognized as an All-State swimmer in 1992 ad 1993. He was team captain in 1993 and his teams were conference and WIAA sectional runners-up from 1990-1993. He also established records in numerous freestyle individual and relay events at 50, 100, 200, and 400-yard distances. Josh continued his aquatic and academic excellence at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He was team captain in 1997 and was a 16-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion and a 15-time NCAA All-American. During this time he was on record-setting teams in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle and medley relay events. In addition, he was on the Dean's List and found time to be a volunteer. A career practicing law began with a degree from Hamline University School of Law. His area of expertise is medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. Josh, his wife Sara, and their family live near Minneapolis. He has added running and outdoor pursuits to his love of swimming and remains an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.

- Robert J. (Bob) Olson
- Bob was a multi-sport athlete at LHS. He lettered eight times in four different sports during his prep career as a red raider student-athlete. Football and track & field supplemented his highly successful involvement in basketball and baseball. Bob's junior and senior years, 1950-1951 and 1951-1952, were glory years for Lincoln. Valley basketball championships and #1 state rankings were achievements in each of these years. The 1951 WIAA State Boys Basketball Championship won by the red raiders. Championships in the valley were also earned by the LHS baseball team in each of these years. Bob was captain and All-Conference in basketball and baseball during his senior year. College at UW-La Crosse offered opportunities to earn eight letters in basketball and baseball. Bob was captain and All-Conference in both sports his senior year. After college, he began a 33-year career in education and coaching yet still found time to play semi-pro baseball for many summers. Bob taught and coached at Cuba City, Marshfield Columbus, and Assumption High Schools during his career. He guided student-athletes in baseball, basketball, football, and golf. Recording over 400 victories as a head high school basketball coach, he was also active with the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association, high school sports camps, and officiated numerous sports and was a coach for the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game. Bob Olson is also a member of the Wisconsin High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, the UW-La Crosse Wall of Fame and the Assumption High School Hall of Fame.

- Mitch Clark
- Mitch earned a total of 5 varsity letters while competing in football and track & field at Lincoln. He was a starter on the football team his junior and senior seasons (1990 & 1991) and was team captain as a senior. As a starter he helped lead the Red Raiders to consecutive conference championships and WIAA playoff appearances. In 1990, he was All-WVC and All- Region. The following year he was All-WVC, All-Region, All-State, and played in the Shrine Allstar Game. Track & field competition was an area of success for Mitch as he lettered his sophomore, junior, and senior season. In 1992, he was selected All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State. That same year he participated at the WIAA State Meet in the 4×100M Relay team who set the Lincoln school record. A Torresani Sportsmanship award winner, Mitch accepted a full football scholarship to North Dakota State University. He was a four-year letter winner at NDSU. Honors included the NDSU Best Athlete Award in 1995. All-North Central Conference as a linebacker in 1996 and Honorable Mention All-NCC Academic Team. He participated in the NCAA Division II "Snow Bowl" All Star game in 1997 and that same year he signed a contract with the Iowa Barnstormers of the arena football league. Mitch lives in Orlando, Florida and is a high school phy. Ed teacher. He also is a head track & field coach and an assistant football coach.

- Dave was a multi-sport athlete, earing 3 letters in football and 2 in basketball. In 1944-1956 he started on both offense and defense and led the team in tackles. The 1946 team won the WVC Championship by tieing Wausau before 5000 spectators at Old Witter Field. Dave was selected to the All-Star first team as linebacker, and he played in the North-South All-Star game in 1947. He attended Marquette University playing from 1947 to 1951, and lettered as a starter for 3 years. After graduation, Dave entered the armed services and played football for two years and was selected to the All Services All-Star Football Team. He also played semi-pro football for the Wausau Muskies. In 1959 Dave received his Master’s Degree in social work and recently concluded a distinguished career in social work in the Madison area.

- Larry Ironside
- Larry earned 7 letters in 3 sports. He started at football halfback for 2 years. He was WVC wrestling champion 2 years, was regional and sectional champ and wrestled in the State Tournament at 138# his junior year. Larry ran the quarter and a half mile and finished in the top ten in the state track meet. Larry wrestled for 2 years at UW Madison and was co-captain his sophomore year. He transferred to UW Stevens Point where he compiled a 38-5-1 record and won 2 State Collegiate Championships and a WSU Conference Title in 1966. Larry was named the NAIA District 14 wrestler of the year, State Collegiate Tournament's outstanding wrestler and placed 5th in the National Tournament. Presently Larry is co-owner of Ironside Olds - GMC Trucks of Wisconsin Rapids.
- Jim Ritchay
- Jim was All-Conference in basketball his junior and senior years. In 1951 the basketball team won the WVC Championship and WIAA State Championship. He was second team All-Conference quarterback in football, and he took 3rd in the State Track Meet in pole vault. He was elected senior class president and was 3rd in his class academically. At St. Norbert's College (1951-1955), Jim lettered four years in both basketball and track. He was selected to the All-Midwest Catholic Team his junior and senior year. Jim also broke the career scoring record and made 18 fo r 18 free throws in one game. His senior year, Jim broke the school pole vault record. Jim was inducted into the St. Norbert's Hall of Fame in 1987. He currently serves as Vice-President and Treasurer of the Fort Howard Steel Corporation of Green Bay.

- Larry Kaja
- A 1942 graduate, Larry eared 8 letters in 3 sports. He was a 3-year starter in football and earned All-Conference honors during his senior year as a halfback. In spite of missing 2.5 games with a leg injury, Larry was the second leading scorer in the conference. Larry earned 1 letter in basketball his junior year, but missed his senior year with a leg injury. In track, Larry competed in the long jump, 100 and 220-yard dashes and earned 4 letters. He held the LHS field house long jump record of 21' 8.25" for 25 years. Larry competed in the state track meet his junior and senior years and finished 2nd in the long jump both years and 5th in the 100-yard dash as a senior. After graduation, Larry went into the Navy where he continued to compete in recreational track & field events including a long jump of 24' 4.5" in one of these meets. Upon completion of his military service, he worked at Consolidated Papers until his retirement in 1986.
- Don Reinicke
- Don earned 3 letters in football, was captain of the 1947 championship team and was all-conference and all-state guard in 1947. Don also lettered 2 years on the baseball team. Don attended Lawrence College, and lettered 3 years in both football and wrestling. He was the 177 pound Mid-West Conference wrestling champion and an off-guard defensive back on the 2 conference championship teams. In 1953, he entered the U.S. Army and was in counter intelligence for 3 years. He taught math and science and has been in public education for over 35 years. In addition, he coached a number of state champion wrestlers and won several conference championships. Don recently retired as superintendent of schools for Platteville school district.

- Doug "Boola" Gill
- Doug lettered in basketball, baseball, and track both junior and senior years. He was captain of the 1950-51 State Championship basketball team. That year he was selected first team All-Conference and All-State. He was undefeated State Champion in the pole vault and set the Valley Conference indoor pole vault record in 1951. Doug played varsity basketball at Marquette University from 1951 through 1954 and captained the team in 1954. He served in the army as a first lieutenant and after military service he worked for Central Steel and Wire of Chicago, Illinois for 35 years.
- Roy E. Peterson III
- Roy was an all-around athlete, lettering 3 years in football and wrestling, 1 year of track and 2 years in baseball. He was unanimous all-conference and honorable mention All-State selection in football. He was on the conference wrestling championship teams in 1969, 1970, 1971, and qualified for the state wrestling tournament in 1971. He was captain of the 70-71 baseball teams, president of the junior and senior classes, member of the student council, and recipient of the American Legion Athletic Award. He attended Badger Boy's State as a participant in 1970 and as a counselor in 1971. Roy attended the U.S. Air Force Academy in 71-75 where he played as a varsity linebacker until an injury curtailed his playing in his sophomore year. He served 3 years in the Air Force, graduated from Western New England College and is presently employed as Coporate Accounts Manager for Security Link Systems, Oakbrook, Illinois.

- Jim Grosklaus
- Jim lettered 3 years in football, basketball, and baseball. In 1951 and 1952 he was football All-Conference. In 1952, he was All-State and high school All-American. He set LHS records of 18, 19, 21, and 26 tackles in a single game. He played in the 1953 National High School All-American football game in Memphis, TN. While an honor student, he was also 2nd team All-Conference in basketball in 1953. The team was conference champions in 1952 and 1954, and state champions in 1951. The baseball team won conference championships in 1951 and 1952 with Jim being the conference batting champion in 1951. While attending the University of Wisconsin, Jim was co-captain of the freshman football team. He graduated with honors in 1958 and joined the Kimberly-Clark Corporation where he is a senior executive with the title of President, Pulp and Paper Sector. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Kimberly-Clark Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors of Midwest Express Airlines.

- Irv Miller
- Irv played football and basketball for 4 years at LHS. He was All-Conference as a running back in football in 1935 and 1936, All-Conference in basketball as a forward for 3 years, and made the All-State basketball team in 1936. Irv played freshman basketball at the University of Wisconsin in 1936 before transferring to Williamette University in Salem, Oregon, where he played both football and basketball. Irv was in Hawaii playing a basketball game the day before Pearl Harbor was bombed. In 1943, after graduation, Irv joined the military and became a B-17 pilot. He was shot down over Berlin and was a prisoner of war. He taught and served as superintendent of schools in Oregon from 1947-1980 retiring in 1981.

- Dale Rheel
- Dale attended UW-Platteville from 1932 to 1936 lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and boxing. He was captain of the basketball team and led the conference in scoring in 1933. He was an all-conference forward for 3 years in basketball. Dale was elected to UW-Platteville's hall of fame as a multi sport athlete. After graduation, Dale taught and coached at Withee, WI, for 4 years and Stanley, WI for 4 years. He came to LHS in 1945 and taught geography and science for 32 years. Dale was an assistant football and basketball coach for 10 years, head basketball coach for 4 years, and head baseball coach for 12 years. During his 12 years as baseball coach, his teams won 9 conference championships. Dale was the Athletic Director from 1967-1977 and a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association where he served as district 2 representative from 1974-1977. He retired from teaching in 1977.

- Jim Reimer
- A 1948 LHS graduate, "Big Jim" won varsity letters in football, basketball, track, and baseball his junior and senior years. He was a fullback on the 1946-47 WVC championship team and the 47-48 WVC Co-champ; named All-Valley 47-48. In basketball, he was the center of the 47-48 state team; led the WVC in scoring 47-48 and named All-Valley that same year. In track, he was runner-up at the 1948 state tournament in the shot-put with a toss of 50-01/2. In baseball, he warned a pair of letters as an outfielder. Jim currently lives in Biron and is a shift supervisor at the Biron Division of Consolidated Papers.

- Ken Hill
- Ken was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball, track, and tennis. In 1957, he was All-Conference halfback and the leading scorer and rusher in the conference, rushing for 980 yards in 126 carries. He was also a member of 3rd team All-State. In track, Ken was the conference champion in the 100-yard dash, setting a school record in the 220-yard dash in a time of :22.40 seconds. This record stood for 29 years. He was senior class president, and badger boy state representative. At Carroll College, Ken starred in football and track. He was selected All-Conference in football years 1958, 1960, and 1961. After graduating in 1962, Ken received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1965.

- Ken earned 10 letters in 3 sports at LHS. In football, he lettered 3 years, was an All-Conference halfback on the 1936 championship team ad rushed for 261 yards in 15 carries against Marshfield. He lettered 3 years in basketball and played on the state tournament team. In track, Ken lettered 4 years, He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and was the conference champion and placed at state with a 10-second 100-yard dash. At Ripon College, Ken played 4 years of football and starred on their 1939 and 1941 championship teams. He was captain of the basketball team and All-Conference in football in 1941. He graduated in 1942, joined the U.S. Army and fought in World Was II as a captain.

- Gwen Cobleigh
- "Cobby" taught for 38 years at LHS and for two years in elementary physical education. She was at the forefront of her profession as a physical education teacher and in her promotion of girls' athletic programs. Before her retirement in 1979, "Cobby" was a key member of the planning team for the "new" LHS physical education and athletic facilities. She was always active in the girls' athletic association programs and supportive of all LHS athletic teams.
- William Kauth
- Bill was a multi-sport athlete winning four letters in track, three in football, and three in basketball. He was the first red raider to rush for over 1,000 yards (1,204 in 1955). In addition to being named All-Conference and 2nd team All-State in football, Bill was class president, prom king, badger boys state representative, and held the school record in the 100-yard dash. Bill graduated from the University of Minnesota where he lettered in football in 1958, 1959, and 1960. He was their leading rusher in 1958 and a member of the 1960 National Championship Rose Bowl team.

- As the "Voice of the Raiders," the excitement of athletic contests was communicated by Bill to radio listening fans with energy and enthusiasm. A 1951 graduate of LHS, Bill broadcasted Lincoln's football and basketball games from 1961-1986. Bill's loyal support, wit, and sensitivity always prevailed during his broadcasts. Bill graduated from St. Norbert College in 1955 and entered Law School at UW Madison. He served in the U.S. Army and later graduated in 1961. Bill has been practicing law for 26 years in Wisconsin Rapids.

- Dean Showers
- Dean was selected to the All-State football team in 1948. In his junior year, he was a unanimous All-Conference selection in basketball at Janesville High School of the Big-8 Conference and after transferring to LHS in his senior year, he received the same honor in the WVC as a center in basketball. Dean also lettered in baseball. Dean attended Drake University where he starred in basketball and baseball for four years. He received a degree in Business Administration in 1953.
